O Olive Oil Giveaway/ Fall Collection
I reviewed O Olive Oil a few months back. I enjoyed their product immensely. You can find the review here.It was an enjoyable post to write and a fantastic product to use.
Today I am offering a giveaway. It will be for their Charcoal Box Fall Collection which includes O Blood Orange Olive Oil (I used to make my Orange and Cranberry Granola Bars), O Zinfandel Vinegar (One of my favorites.) and O Porto Vinegar. What a beautiful gift set! I think I would make a blood orange vinaigrette to start or maybe use the blood orange oil as a drizzle over some chicken or fish - yum! What a wonderful giveaway.

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are olive oil junkies. I agree with Kim, that the blood orange would make for a great vinaigrette. But the possibilities really are endless. I've got my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI love blood orange! I actually just found a recipe I would try for Blood Orange Grilled Scallops and Brownies! Yes I found a recipe for brownies that uses Blood Orange Olive oil. How exciting.

ReplyDeleteThe bottles of olive oil are really good and great looking for your counter decor. I would make Blood Orange and Olive Oil Cake. The recipes uses 2/3 cup olive oil. And the cake looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I love olive oil so much. I would use it for caprese,making gnocchi,great vinagrettes, and roasted greek potatoes.
ReplyDeleteooooo, i love fancy olive oil and vinegars. i could definitely use the blood orange olive oil in some desserts i'm baking for our Halloween party. the Zinfadel vinegar would be fabulous over a pork dish or included in a sushi dipping sauce. and the porto vinegar would taste wonderful paired with fresh cheeses and fruits with an herbed crusty bread. these have so many possibilities i can hardly decide!
ReplyDeleteOooh, what WOULDN'T I make with this stuff! Pesto, dressings, roasted herbed potatoes.... even a simple dipping sauce for bread w/just the oil and the vinegar. YUM!
ReplyDeleteThe O Porto vinegar would be great mixed with red wine and then reduced to make a rich, slightly sweet sauce for a stuffed pork or beef tenderloin.
ReplyDeleteThe products would be wonderful for salads and dipping sauces, but I would love to try using the O Blood Orange olive oil to make an olive oil sorbet/ice cream.
ReplyDeleteWow -- Very interesting flavors! First, I'd have to display it on the counter, since they're pretty attractive. Then I'd probably try them on almost everything :) Salads, pouched chicken, sautéing vegetables, etc. Thanks for a chance to try 'em.

The blood orange olive oil would make a great citrus scallop saute; I'd like to try the zinfandel vinegar to add acid to my Italian Red sauce and a port vinegar would make an excellent salad dressing -- perhaps all on it's own, I'm thinking butter lettuce, gorganzola cheese, pecans, maybe some chicken.... mmmm Can you tell I'm hungry!

ReplyDeleteI would use the blood orange olive oil to drizzle over oven roasted beets, add the zinfandel or porto vinegar in a vinaigrette for a salad.

I would love one of these! I would definitely use the blood orange olive oil on a fennel citrus herb salad (http://www.vanillalatte.com/2009/04/20/fennel-orange-herb-salad)! Mmmm and the vinegars would go so well with fish. I'm getting so many ideas!
ReplyDeleteIt will be an excellent opportunity to incorporate each flavour into desserts like chocolate ganache for truffles and custards for Pate a choux and creme brulees! Warm fruit compote would be fabulous for this cozy Autumn....it has already begun snowing in Boston!

ReplyDeleteI haven't done much with "fancier oils" so winning this would allow me to experiment and try several new recipes and tastes. That could both fun and educational as long as the food turns out good. I think I am a decent enough cook and baker that it could.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that came to my mind was to slow poach salmon in olive oil. And also flavoured oils. Will like to make rosemary infused and also lemon infused before the seaon is over! Oh yes, always wanted to try making a chocolate mousse with olive oil :)

I saw the giveaway, Miranda, only I thought it was not fair that I participated as I live in a country that's one of the main olive oil producers in the world... :-) It's a lovely giveaway, so let it be... I love vinegar in salads, like in an endive, pomegranate and walnuts salad... yummy.

ReplyDeleteIf I were to win, the Blood Orange Olive Oil would definitely end up in a dessert somewhere. On page 171 of Cooking From the Hip by Cat Cora, there is a heavenly Chocolate Budino recipe that calls for eggs and butter, so I'm thinking a blood orange flavored oil might be able to step in for these partially. And of course both vinegars would be massively, massively appreciated as well! What an awesome giveaway.

ReplyDeleteAmong many other things, I'd definitely use them for a dipping sauce with bread, my favorite indulgence. I realize that isn't very imaginative but you can't beat fresh French bread dipped in olive oil and vinegar.

ReplyDeleteI would use the Zinfandel vinegar for a dipping suace for grilled shrimp and the Blood Orange Olive to make a vinaigrette for my Autumn roasted pumpkin salad...yum.

Such an amazing giveaway. I am thinking shrimps salad with the blook orange olive, a vinaigrette for a great salad with the Zinfandel Vinegar & would be using the Porto Vinegar to do a sauce reduction to serve with meat.
ReplyDeleteI use olive oil every day. What wouldn't I do with them ;) Amazing flavors. I'm sure I would start out with some vinaigrette's & then move on from there.
ReplyDeleteOlive oil is a staple in my house. Flavored olive oils can be used to flavor a brownie or cake mix. Also, it is great mixed with bourbon as a brush on flavoring for chicken.
ReplyDeleteThey all look delicous. I would reduce them as a great topping for filet mingon, fish, veggies, ice cream...anything! I have never tried this brand and I would love to!

ReplyDeleteI will definitely make a salad dressing from the blood orange olive oil. Mix it with a bit of honey and a splash of balsamic and drizzle it over a fresh mango.
Maybe I'll just swig it from the bottle every time I pass through the kitchen.

Just under the wire! These products look divine: I would love to use the vinegars simply to prepare favorite greens such as kale, chard and squash leaves - giving them that extra spark of flavor so that they're not just neglected little side dishes.
ReplyDeleteAs for the olive oil, I've never used them in a dessert before but have heard a lot about olive oil ice cream! With blood orange, that sounds like something I'd like to give a try.
I'd love to try the Zinfandel vinegar in a warm bacon vinagrette with spinach and shrimp. Yum!
