Blueberry Orange Granola Bars

My husband loves snacks for the mornings to eat during his drive to work. I know everyone is probably sick of the things I do for him, but he does a lot for me too. Geoff works his butt off so I can stay home and raise our beautiful girls. I will never be able to show him how much I appreciate that. This is not just for him. My girls love them too and they are very good for you....

Granola Bars
(adapted from Allrecipes.com as Playgroup Granola Bars)

4 cps. oats
2 cps. brown sugar
1 cp. wheat germ
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 cps. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 cp. honey (I subbed some blueberry syrup. I wanted a more of a blueberry taste)
2 eggs
1 cp. Blood Orange O Olive Oil, (Veg. Oil if you do not have the flavored Oil.)
2 tsp. Vanilla Paste
1/2 cp. sunflower sees
1/2 cp. almonds, slivered
1/2 cp. pecans
1 cp. dried blueberries
1 cp. dried cranberries

I added all the dry ingredients, nuts, dried blueberries and cranberries.

I then added the eggs, oil, honey (If you want sub Blueberry syrup), and O Blood Orange Olive Oil. (Or reg. oil)

All you need to do is mix the ingredients just to combine.

Look at how wonderful that looks. When it is finished being mixed push it into a greased 13x11 pan. Bake on 350 for 35 minutes. Let it cool and cut into bars.

  5. I feel the same way about my hubby, we are both very lucky. The pic of your girls is adorable! I love granola bars, but hate to buy then in the store, cost and preservatives, yuck! I plan to try these this week. Have never seen that olive oil, but will have to start looking for it!
Also, thanks for visiting my site! FYI, the crab cakes taste just about as good the next day, warmed in the oven on a pizza stone

  10. Kelly and Chef Sheri- This Olive Oil is located at most whole foods store. I found it in Fresh Foods (Organic Store). I am actually going to write a post about it. It is really affordable and they have a variety: Jalapeno, Blood Orange, Clementine, Citruis, and Extra Virgin.
They also have a variety of vinegars: Pomegrante, White Balsamic (my fav), Citruis, Champagne Vinegar, Port Vinegar, and Zinfindale Vinegar.
